Madeline E. Goolie (MEG)
Madeline Eileen Goolie, known as MEG, is an Alaskan born printmaking and multimedia artist. She is pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at Washington State University with a focus on relief printmaking. Her practice grows naturally out of her time spent in the wilderness of the Alaskan coast where she has had many encounters with the numerous animal inhabitants of the region. Her recent work explores themes of memory, loss, and familial connections through symbolic animal imagery. Madeline actively showcases her work at galleries, fairs, and artist markets throughout the Inland / Pacific Northwest and Alaska.
Recently MEG was awarded the Gamblin Undergraduate Award by Southern Graphics Council International. SGCI is the nation’s largest organization of printmakers. In 2024 she had solo exhibitions at Akela Space and Alaska Pacific University both in Anchorage, Alaska. Spring 2025 she will showcase a new large-scale reduction relief print series of 5 at her Senior BFA thesis exhibition. In 2024 she participated twice in BIG INK- a large scale woodcut printing workshop with Lyell Castonguay. She hand carved separate blocks for the workshops, one for Spokane, WA in the Spring and one for Eliot, ME in the fall.
